Each-Way Bet Calculator: Win & Place Returns
An each-way bet has two equal stakes: one to win and one to place. Calculate both parts using the place fraction offered for that event.

Calculating the place odds
Apply the place fraction to the fractional profit odds, not to the whole decimal price. Place decimal odds = 1 + (win decimal odds − 1) × place fraction. At 10/1, or decimal 11.00, one-fifth terms give 2/1 place odds, or decimal 3.00.
The calculator does not choose how many places pay. Check the actual event’s terms. “Places only” means the selection qualifies for the stated place payout but does not win.
Win, place-only and losing outcomes
At $10 per part, decimal 11.00 win odds and 1/5 terms, total cost is $20. If the selection wins, the win part pays $110 and the place part pays $30: $140 back and $120 profit. If it only places, the return is $30 and profit is $10. If it is unplaced, both parts lose and net is −$20.
These are fixed-odds calculations. Non-runner deductions, dead heats, changed place terms and promotions are not included. The tool models a single selection, not an each-way accumulator.
Each-way versus pari-mutuel place betting
An each-way place fraction is agreed as part of the fixed-odds bet. A US tote place dividend comes from a separate pool and cannot be derived from the win odds. For published tote dividends, use the horse racing payout calculator. For a win-only ticket, use the straight-bet calculator.
Check places, ties and deductions before using the result
A place fraction alone does not say how many finishing places qualify. Read the ticket’s paid-place count and confirm that the horse finished within it. This tool shows the payout for each possible win/place/unplaced classification; it does not determine the classification from a finishing position.
Dead heats, non-runner deductions, enhanced-place offers and different win/place commission rules can change settlement. The standard calculation assumes a fully winning or losing part at unchanged odds. A refunded part and a lost part are different: a refund returns that part’s stake. Do not use an unadjusted result as a settlement quotation.
